Crafoord Prize to leading cosmologists

Stockholms universitet

The coming two days (20-21/9), the Crafoord-symposium will be held in Stockholm with a large number of leading cosmologists attending. The program is presented here. The reason is the award ceremony for the Crafoord Prize, this year given to astronomers James Gunn, Martin Rees and James Peebles for their work concerning the large scale structure of the universe.

In connection with the grand prize ceremony, focus will also be on astronomers receiving contributions from the Anna-Greta and Holger Crafoord fund for work in the field of cosmology (link to information in Swedish). Awards were given to Edvard Mörtsell, Jesper Sollerman and Göran Östlin, all at the department of Astronomy at Stockholm University, together with Erik Zackrisson at Uppsala University. A link to the announcement (in Swedish) is available here.
