The Crab nebula with its pulsar in the center as seen by VLT
Utbildningens mål är att ge grundläggande kunskaper om högenergetiska processer i universum och hur dessa kan studeras teoretiskt och observationellt. Kursen behandlar följande områden: supernovor, vita dvärgar, neutronstjärnor, svarta hål, massöverföring i binära system, ackretionsskivor, aktiva galaxkärnor, kosmisk strålning, accelerationsmekanismer för relativistiska partiklar, neutrinoastronomi.
Utöver 40 poäng i matematik och 60 poäng i fysik, följande kurs i astronomi: Astrofysikaliska strålningsprocesser.
