What is Projekt SkolAstro? SkolAstro was initiated by four astronomers at Stockholm Observatory (Department of astronomy at Stockholm University) in the mid 1990ies. However, the ideas behind Skolastro goes back several decades. The main purpose is to increase the interest in natural sciences and technology in general, and physics in particular, in school. The tool for doing this is astronomy
The ultimate goal is to include astronomy in the regular  teaching of physics. By using eye-catching astronomical objects one should be able to introduce physics in a fascinating way. The unsurpassed resource to accomplish this in school is the teacher!

     Skolastro provides
  • Further training of teachers
  • Advanced computer-based laboratory exercises for  high-school students
  • Basic exercises for all ages
  • Seminars and discussions about astronomical topics
  • Observations
.....and more

Our computer-based exercises are intended primarily for high-school education in physics and astronomy, but might be applicable to other classes. Some of these exercises were financially supported by The Knowledge Foundation (KK-stiftelsen) as well as Stockholm Observatory.

A major part of activities
within Skolastro is now offered in the Stockholm House of Science (Vetenskapens hus). Skolastro in Vetenskapens hus at the Albanova University Center also offers a gateway to ongoing research and university studies.
